Wildlife and natural history artist
Karen Carr
is a fourth-generation Texas native, now living near Dallas. Karen’s work has
been featured in publications, zoos, museums and parks in the United States,
Japan and Europe.
At The University of Texas at Austin, Karen studied natural sciences and
physics in addition to her studies in art.
While there, Karen received a prestigious Ford Foundation scholarship in
recognition of her illustration and

life-drawing skills. Karen completed her baccalaureate studies with a
Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from North Texas State University. She
subsequently studied both anatomy and business at The University of Texas in
Dallas. After Karen graduated, she apprenticed for several years under her
father, noted artist and sculptor Bill Carr.
Karen began work in 1995 on a series of bronze sculptures inspired by her work
for Lone Star Dinosaurs, a book by Dr. Louis Jacobs and published by

Texas A&M University Press. Karen also received the first artist's grant from
The Dinosaur Society for a reconstruction of a newly discovered Texas
hadrosaur. The painting, completed under the direction of Dr. Jacobs, is now on
display.
She is currently working on a variety of projects for museums and other
facilities throughout the United States and Canada. Karen enjoys camping,
fishing, bird watching and other outdoor activities throughout North America.
