Sinornithosaurus

"New dromaeosaur" Sinornithosaurus

Graphite

The inset at the right shows the fossil. The dinosaur Sinornithosaurus is a Dromaeosaur, a small, swift relative of the Velociraptors which you saw in the movie "Jurassic Park". Found in north-eastern China's Liaoning province last spring by farmers. The dromaeosaur's remains were found in two slabs of fine-grained rock. The dinosaur is about 3' long. The remains have been inturpeted as showing feathers.

Todd Marshall does a great job of illustrating this feathered dinosaur in a highly active pose.
