Mess, mess, mess. That's been the order of things lately.
You may have found yourself in the middle of the mess around here as of late, I know I have! My apologies for any inconvenience and hoping for some smooth sailing ahead.
So what am I talking about?
Well this website runs on some very sophisticated software which for the most time runs very very well and without major glitches. We speed along just fine and it's on to the next. Occasionally the software needs upgrading and sometimes there are bumps in that process. …Happened - got through that.
There also seems to be a new crop of members who join to post advertizing recommendations to products they feel are of interest to you all. You will notice that there is a warning attached to the Rules which reads:
"- WARNING -Please be aware that Membership does not give you the right to post adds, pictures or links to adds or web pages or the like which have not been approved by Prehistoricss Illustrated. If your purpose in becoming a Member here at Prehistorics Illustrated is to post adds which are not approved by Prehistorics Illustrated than it is better that you not join at all. This is a website for the enjoyment of dinosaurs, ancient life, extinction, the prehistoric world and related subjects, these subjects may be considered as approved by Prehistorics Illustrated. If you have a question about your intended posting you may email this website for confirmation of approval or denial of the proposed posting.
So if adds, pictures or links to adds or web pages or the like are posted which are not in harmony with these subjects they will be removed without notice and a warning issued to the posting member. If this continues the member may placed on probation or be immediately removed from membership at the discretion of Prehistorics Illustrated staff or administration. If you wish to post your commercial adds and posts on Prehistorics Illustrated you may contact the website to purchase advertising space.
This website is private properly and hence any form of censorship is allowed at the discretion of Prehistorics Illustrated - you agree not to consider this website a forum for free speech if Prehistorics Illustrated considers it to break the rules."
I am hoping that members "take the hint" and that advertizing interests follow more closely the rules. I have taken no action of warning against those members as of yet but will be at least isolating the posts if not deleting them altogether.
Next was the crash on the host's server which scrambled the eggs around here really good! Things disappeared, and were slow in coming back. Some things disappeared completely, including an members jointed since April 2nd of this year. If that's you, it wasn't me that did it. Blame it on the Hosting service (which shall remain nameless) that we use. What is back is where we are now. I was really scared that the last Gallery added, D.W. Miller, was lost forever but after 2 days it too wandered back in and was acting normal.
So I have some things to fix, such as you'll notice the big blank box on the first page with nothing in it but it will take some time.
Anyway I just wanted to let you know what was the latest here and maybe this will explain some of the things that have seemed weird lately.
Next week I will probably upgrade the software again and AFAIK it will be seamless.
